Leeds United made a big statement upon returning to the Premier League.

Despite losing 4-3 against Liverpool on Saturday, the Whites made a real impression against the reigning champions.

It's been 16 long years since the Yorkshire side graced the top flight, and the hope is that they can sustain their place for many years to come.

If they're going to do that then strengthening in the transfer market is a must.

Victor Orta and his recruitment team have signed plenty of players this summer, with Robin Koch and Rodrigo two of the higher profile arrivals at Elland Road.

But Leeds aren't done yet.

Plenty of players have been linked with a move to west Yorkshire, including Ryan Kent.

The Rangers man was the subject of intense interest from Leeds earlier this summer, however Steven Gerrard's side were keen to keep their star man.

That interested appears to have subsided, and according to former Rangers boss Alex McLeish it's probably best that a move hasn't panned out due to the lack of first team opportunities that would be available under Bielsa.

Speaking to Football Insider, McLeish said: “Well, if I’m looking at the Premier League and the strength of the squads they have down there and the level of the football they’re playing at then I would think he would kind of be in the rotation order, I don’t know if he would be an absolute first-choice for Bielsa every single week.

“Maybe he sees that could be the case, who knows? Steven (Gerrard) has probably had chats with him as well and told him maybe similar things or he doesn’t feel ready yet.

“Players can have that attitude as well but he’s a player who will surely gather in confidence the more he plays, the more little tricks he learns, the more he’ll see his speed and his cleverness can outwit a defender and once he starts doing that absolutely every single week then Rangers won’t want to see him out of the team.”

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

It seems that this is a move that has fizzled out.

Leeds United are determined to add creativity to their side and have been linked with plenty of players already this summer.

One of them was Ryan Kent, but it seems that the club have moved on.

Kent is a big player for Rangers, and while a move to the Premier League would undoubtedly have been a big opportunity for him, it seems that it won't happen.

That said, the winger has a big role to play for Steven Gerrard's side this term.

If he can help Rangers to the Scottish title this term then his stock will rise considerably, and who knows, that might be the moment for Leeds to enter the race for him.
