Manchester United look to have one foot in the Champions League final after goals from Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney put Schalke to the sword.

The scoreline could have been more damaging for the Bundesliga side were it not for an inspired performance from Manuel Neuer in the Schalke goal.

In the other semi-final clash, Barcelona take on Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu tonight hoping to avenge the Copa de Rey final defeat inflicted by their great rivals last week.

In domestic news, Stoke clinically dispatched of Wolves at the Britannia Stadium last night to leave Mick McCarthy's side deeper in the relegation mire.

Goals from Kenwyne Jones, Ryan Shawcross and Jermaine Pennant scored in a 3-0 win which delighted boss Tony Pulis.

But the Potters' victory was marred by a hamstring injury sustained by Matthew Etherington which could now rule him out of the FA Cup final.
