Conor McGregor has released a fresh statement after fans grew concerned over his recent deleted tweets claiming 'he could no longer go on.'
The Irishman took to Twitter and said, “Never will I fold,” in response to alleged sexual assault accusations which resulted in his arrest, which then led to him tweeting about the fact he could no longer go on like this.
McGregor was arrested last Friday in Corsica for supposedly showing his private parts at a bar on September 6. Assumingly heavily intoxicated at the time of the incident, the former UFC champion was released without charge after being questioned by the authorities.
He made his first public statement on Monday in a now deleted tweet, saying he could not go on after a series of online attacks from accusers and trolls, which hinted that the fighter could have been thinking of taking his own life.
In the same tweet, he said that this was a 'horrendous time in my life.'
In another now deleted tweet, McGregor responded by saying: “I will never kill myself no matter how many people wish for it.”
Throughout the lengthy post, he calls out the online trolls who rebuked him following the alleged incident.
"Try set me up all yous f*****g want over and over and over the truth will always set me free!
"Never will I fold! The truth is the truth and it gives me wings!
"I know my character! God bless DNA! God bless Cctv! God bless Eye witness! God bless the truth!
"The truth is power! I am free!
"Never will a dime be paid to anyone coming at me with vicious lies! Not now not f*****g ever!
"I will fight! And I am only beginning my fight!
"I will not allow these people to just accuse me and then disappear into the dark to attempt to ruin someone else's life! No f***ing way!"
McGregor was set to take part in a 180km 24-hour water bike race for charity, but was ultimately arrested 24 hours before the event, as police raided his boat the day after they received the complaint from an unnamed party.
Emmanuelle Ramon, McGregor’s lawyer, also made a public statement, saying that the fighter has “vigorously denied any wrongdoing.”
Another comment coming from McGregor’s corner was from his manager Audie Attar. He said: “I am irate and putting out a warning loud and clear: Conor McGregor is not and will not be a target for those seeking to score a headline or a payday."
The renowned fighter has had his fair share of public controversies over the years, so his team are definitely well experienced in crisis management following such incidents. McGregor, his team and the general public are still waiting on further updates, but for now, the Irishman is innocent until proven guilty.
