Call of Duty: Warzone could be released on mobile devices in the near future.

That’s according to a job listing on the Activision website - which has now been taken down - with the company officially looking for an ‘executive producer, features’.

The successful applicant is required to develop a “new mobile FPS in the Call of Duty Franchise,” as quoted in the job listing.

Further down the page, it also notes that they must “harvest, adapt and deliver the essential features from Warzone console and PC into their best mobile instantiation.”

The job title also features the code (WZM), which logically appears to be short for Warzone Mobile.

Warzone has been hugely successful in its initial months, having been released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One in March. It surpassed 60 million downloads in its first two months, with six million of those coming in the opening 24 hours.

The game was designed as a Battle Royale, catering for a total of 150 players to be involved in one multiplayer lobby.

It is set in the fictional city of Verdansk, with parts of the map based on the Ukrainian city of Donetsk.

Activision have not confirmed any plans to produce a Warzone mobile game, although the company are said to be pleased with how their first CoD-centred mobile game, Call of Duty: Mobile, has been received.

The game, which was released in October 2019, reached a total of 250 million downloads up to June 2020, making it one of the most successful mobile releases of all time.

Like Warzone, it is multiplayer-only, and also features a Battle Royale mode that can feature up to 100 players.

Earlier this month, Activision officially parted company with Tencent, the publishers of the CoD: Mobile game, over alleged copying. It is unclear whether any future mobile game would be published solely by Activision, or whether the company would seek to involve another party.
