David Ornstein has revealed that the Irons are interested in Mykola Matviyenko.
The Shakhtar Donetsk defender enjoyed an excellent campaign last time out after making 38 appearances for the Ukrainian side, and that has led to significant interest from Moyes' side.
Speaking on the Ornstein & Chapman Podcast, Ornstein said: "I was also told that the Ukraine central defender of Shakhtar Donetsk, Mykola Matviyenko, is somebody who interests them.
“I was told that he had a proposal of sorts from West Ham, but I don’t know how advanced it is and I don’t know whether it’s moved on since I was told it over the last couple of weeks.
“He’s a player who’s attracted interest in the past from Manchester City.”

This is certainly one to watch.
Mykolo Matviyenko is a player of real potential and that is surely appealing for West Ham.
At 24 years of age, the defender has already picked up 28 caps for Ukraine and that shows just how experienced he is considering his relatively young age.
It's unclear just how much Shakhtar Donetsk would demand for the player, but given his valuation is set at just £8.1million on Transfermarkt, it's a deal that could provide decent value for money.
West Ham certainly need a big, powerful centre-back and with Matviyenko standing at around 6ft 2inches, he would certainly fit the bill.
David Ornstein has a strong track record of being accurate in his reports, and so this is certainly one to watch for.
