After tying down Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to a new long-term contract this week, Arsenal are now looking to strengthen their squad with the acquisition of Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar. The Gunners have already done some shrewd business this summer, bringing in Gabriel, Pablo Mari, Cedric Soares and Willian. Dani Ceballos, meanwhile, has rejoined the club for a second successive season-long loan.Gabriel and Willian both impressed on their first Premier League appearances for Arsenal against Fulham last weekend. But fans are acutely aware that a top-four finish will become a much more realistic prospect if they can sign the talented Aouar.A superb passer and dribbler, the 22-year-old has scored 24 goals in 139 appearances for Lyon. Some have compared him to former Arsenal star Santi Cazorla, who lit up the Emirates Stadium thanks to his sublime technical ability.According to Telefoot Chaine - per @GFFN on Twitter and relayed by Sport Witness - Arsenal are set to make a ‘concrete offer’ for Aouar.

The report adds that the bid will be made imminently and is expected to be in excess of €40 million.

It’s understood that Aouar, who has also been linked with Juventus, is Arteta’s priority summer signing.
