Sony’s eagerly-anticipated PlayStation 5 virtual showcase took place on Wednesday evening.Gaming fans were hoping to finally hear details about the console’s price and release date - and they were not left disappointed.Sony have confirmed that the official price for PS5 will be $499/ £449.99/€499.99, and $399.99/ £359.99/ €399.99 for the PS5 Digital Edition.The Xbox Series X, by comparison, comes in at $499/ £449 / AU$749, while the all-digital Xbox Series S is $299/ £249 / AU$499.So, when can gaming fans finally get their hands on the PS5?The answer: before Christmas.

You’ll be able to purchase the PS5 on November 12 if you live in the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand or South Korea.

If you live in the rest of the world, you’ll need to wait a week longer.
