It seems like just yesterday that Bayern Munich were crowned champions of Europe in Lisbon.

The Bundesliga side beat Paris Saint-Germain in the 2019/20 final, which concluded a tournament like no other.

But they won't have long to celebrate that triumph.

The Champions League group stage will return next month and Europe's elite will be back in action across the continent.

From the Premier League, it's Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea who have qualified.

But who will they play in the group stages?

While qualification is still going on, we already have a pretty solid idea of how each group will shape up.

The Champions League returns in October

Per the Mirror, here's how the pots are shaping up (teams with an * are yet to officially qualify):

Pot 1: Real Madrid, Liverpool, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Zenit St Petersburg, Porto, Sevilla.

Pot 2: Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United, Shakhtar Donetsk, Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, Ajax.

Pot 3: Dinamo Kiev*, Red Bull Salzburg*, RB Leipzig, Inter Milan, Olympiakos*, Lazio, Atalanta, Dinamo Zagreb*.

Pot 4: Lokomotiv Moscow, Marseille, Bruges, Slavia Prague*, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Basaksehir, PAOK Salonika*, Rennes.

The Champions League draw happens in a couple of weeks

Who Liverpool can face

With Liverpool in pot 1, their group will be populated by one club from each other pot.

As teams from the same nation can't play each other, a dream draw for Jurgen Klopp's side could see them play Ajax, Lazio and Rennes.

However, there are still some big teams in the lower pots and Liverpool could end up facing the likes of Inter Milan, Marseille and Atletico Madrid in a group of death.

Liverpool will have the easiest draw on paper

Who the other Premier League teams can play

The draw for the three other English clubs will be significantly tougher. As they're all in pot 2, each will play one of Real Madrid, Juventus, Bayern, PSG, Zenit, Porto or Sevilla for sure.

After that, it's a case of filling the group with teams from pot 3 and 4. How exciting.

Chelsea will be in pot 2

The Champions League group stage draw will take place on October 1 at 17:00 BST.
