Leeds crashed out of the EFL Cup on Wednesday night in enthralling fashion.

Drama seems to follow them this summer, so much so that they even signed a player called Cody Drameh.

it's safe to say this has not been a routine period for the Whites.

They achieved promotion and secured a place in the Premier League for the first time since 2004 while they broke their transfer record to spend £30m on Rodrigo.

The Spaniard didn't make his first start until Wednesday evening in the Carabao Cup as he scored a penalty during the shoot-out.

Unfortunately, Leeds lost the clash but they have their sights set on far more important things this season - primarily staying in the top-flight.

The Whites have spent a fair whack in the transfer market, also welcoming Robin Koch from Freiburg, but they are still looking to conclude some other business before the window is said and done next month.

Marcelo Bielsa

One target this summer is currently at Bournemouth.

Of course, we're talking about David Brooks. The Cherries have seen a number of players walk through the exit door following their relegation - Ryan Fraser and Callum Wilson have left, while Josh King has been the subject of interest from Premier League clubs too.

Unfortunately, after being linked with Brooks last month, it seems as though the south-coast side are in no mood to see another player leave.

That's because the Leeds target now has a ridiculous value of £50m.

That's according to The Sun who suggest that he is set to stay at the Vitality Stadium unless anyone pays the required fee.

Manchester United have also supposedly been keeping an eye on the young Welshman.

David Brooks on Wales duty

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

£50m is quite frankly absurd for a player of Brooks' quality.

Leeds would undoubtedly benefit from a player with proven Premier League experience, but there is no way that they should break their transfer record by £20m to sign him this summer.

Described as a player with "non-stop energy" and "creative flair" by Eddie Howe, you can see why the Cherries might want such a large fee for his services, but given the players Leeds already have at their disposal, there is little point paying this kind of money.

Perhaps in a year they can reignite their interest in the 12-cap international? A season in the Championship, however well he does, will probably ensure his value plummets somewhat, and if Bournemouth fail to get promoted, they will be at the mercy of the Premier League clubs.

David Brooks

That being said, in a year's time, Leeds may well sign Jack Harrison on a permanent transfer.

The winger is currently enjoying his third spell on loan with the Whites and given he is surplus to requirements at Manchester City, would be considerably cheaper than Brooks.

If Leeds don't want to pay over £30m for Rodrigo de Paul, they're never going to cough up £50m for a Championship player. That would be plain daft.
