With a long awaited (and needed) overhaul, FIFA 21 Career Mode is set to be the best instalment of the popular game mode yet.

One of the main attractions to the mode is the ability to sign a young player and develop them into world-class players over several seasons.

With the release of the game only weeks away, EA have released a list of the FIFA 21 players with the highest Career Mode potential.

Here are the top 20, including some massive, massive names!

Alphonso Davies (LB, Bayern Munich) – 89 Potential

His speed and dribbling caught the eye in Bayern Munich’s winning Champions League season and would probably be the quickest player on your team.

Ansu Fati (LW, Barcelona) – 90 Potential

The term ‘the next Messi’ is used too much, but Ansu Fati might be the exception. Starting for Barcelona at only 17 and being Spain and Barcelona’s youngest ever goal scorer, Fati will be one exceptional player. Rumoured to have a £365 million release clause in his contract, this signing may be limited to a few clubs’ budgets.

Rodrygo (RW, Real Madrid) – 90 Potential

Another young Brazilian Real Madrid winger, and another Career Mode must-have. With Madrid having excellent depth in this position, this could be an easy to negotiate transfer.

Mikel Oyarzabal (LW, Real Sociedad) – 90 Potential

The Spanish winger has played for Real Sociedad since he was 14 and signed a new contract in 2019, so it will take a very attractive contract to lure the talented winger.

Federico Valverde (CM, Real Madrid) – 90 Potential

A young Real Madrid midfielder, is there any more convincing needed?

Dayot Upamecano (CB, RB Leipzig) – 90 Potential

The centre-back impressed in the Champions League this season and would walk into most defensive lines in Europe.

Frenkie De Jong (CM, Barcelona) – 90 Potential

Ajax’s academy does not disappoint, and De Jong is no exception.

Sandro Tonali (CDM, AC Milan) – 91 Potential

Tonali is another Career Mode bargain and a must have for any teams with a lower budget.

Francisco Trincão (RW, Barcelona) – 91 Potential

Only 78 rated at the start of your Career Mode, Trincão could be an absolute bargain.

Marcus Rashford (LM, Manchester United) – 91 Potential

If you can get Rashford to leave his boyhood club then he will be one of the first names on your team sheet.

Lautaro Martínez (ST, Inter Milan) – 92 Potential

Heavily linked with Barcelona and seen as a replacement to Lionel Messi, the Argentine striker is the real deal.

Gianluigi Donnarumma (GK, AC Milan) – 92 Potential

The Italian 'keeper can play between the sticks for your team for as long as you can play the game.

Mathijs De Ligt (CB, Juventus) – 92 Potential

A product of Ajax’s impressive academy, it’s no surprise De Ligt is on this list. The youngest ever Ajax captain will solidify your Career Mode defence and would make an excellent signing.

Erling Haaland (ST, Borussia Dortmund) – 92 Potential

Dortmund are not short of young talent, and Haaland is one of the greatest examples. One of the best goal scorers in the world and bagging a 23-minute hat-trick on his debut, its operator error if he isn’t your club’s top scorer in his first season.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB, Liverpool) – 92 Potential

Along with left-back partner Andy Robertson, Alexander-Arnold was certainly key to Liverpool’s Premier League title last year. Playing in a position often-overlooked by FIFA players, this is a talent not to be missed.

Vinícius Jr. (LW, Real Madrid) – 93 Potential

The first senior Real Madrid player to be born in 2000 makes us all feel old; the Brazilian is also an impressive talent. Starting off as only 80 rated, this player is one for those planning on sticking with their Career Mode for several seasons.

João Félix (CF, Atletico Madrid) – 93 Potential

The second most expensive teenager in the world has impressive potential. The Portuguese international would be an excellent addition to any team sheet.

Kai Havertz (CAM, Chelsea) – 93 Potential

Chelsea smashed their transfer record to bring this player to Stamford Bridge this season, and his FIFA potential reflects this. Havertz alone is enough of a reason to start a Chelsea Career Mode on FIFA 21.

Jadon Sancho (RM, Borussia Dortmund) – 93 Potential

The English wonderkid is second on the list after another impressive season in the Bundesliga. This may be a Career Mode signing for Manchester United fans as it may be the only way they can see the player at Old Trafford this year.

Kylian Mbappé (ST, PSG) – 95 Potential

The Frenchman tops the list and it’s no surprise. One of the best young players in Europe and the second most expensive player in history has the potential to be even better than Messi in FIFA 21. Although, you’ll need a big budget to get him in your team.
