Liverpool fans are still buzzing following the arrival of Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich on Friday. The Spain international, 29, has signed a four-year deal with the Reds.Thiago has cost Liverpool just £20 million. That fee could rise to £25 million with bonuses but, in today’s market, that still represents a bargain."I must adapt to the team as fast as I can in the situation and the context that we are living right now,” Thiago said."Everything is more compact and we started a little bit later, but still it is football and I think we have to mix all the big things up, all the good things we have."I will help the team in a defensive and offensive [way] and also in a mental aspect.”

Jurgen Klopp, meanwhile, expressed his delight after sealing the revered midfielder’s signature.

"Absolutely great - I'm really happy that it finally worked out and we could just do it," he said.

"I know all the people at Bayern wanted to keep him desperately. That's normal and understandable because he played an important role, in the last season as well.

"He just was ready for a new challenge and he decided for us."

Klopp added: ”When we spoke about all the players, he respects them all massively. He admires them.

"We played against him when we played Munich in the Champions League two years ago [Liverpool won 3-1 in the second leg of their last-16 tie after a 0-0 draw at Anfield], so he knows what kind of machine we can be and he wanted to be part of that."

It hasn’t taken long for Liverpool fans to come up with a creative chant for their new signing - and it’s a belter.

Supporters were sharing this superb video on social media shortly before Thiago’s arrival…

And the guys at Anfield captured the midfielder’s reaction to hearing it for the first time…

“It’s crazy,” he said. “How people can be so creative, it’s amazing.”

Asked if he liked it, Thiago responded: “I love it. Love it. It gives me positive vibes, as well.”

Just imagine a packed Anfield chanting the song in unison after Thiago scores a worldie.

Hopefully it won’t be too much longer before fans can finally return to see their new summer signing in the flesh.
