Tyron Woodley has used the press conference for the up and coming fight with Colby Covington to raise awareness of the racial injustice that occurs around the world by using the three words which have resonated across the world during 2020.He answered all questions with relatable answers, "I just think that Black Lives Matter," & "I hope they realise Black Lives Matter."Prior to the press conference, Woodley had called out UFC to follow the footsteps of other sports, such as the NBA, and allow fighters to wear various slogans such as “Black Lives Matter” on their shorts and gloves.During an interview with ESPN, Woodley exclaimed: “I wish the UFC would do a little bit more; I’m really not happy with that."I had a long conversation with Dana White about it when the riots happened at Ferguson. I wanted them to utilise me to show a positive spin."Let’s go give back. Let’s go do seminars with these kids. Mixed martial arts is an affordable martial art that they can do."Start doing seminars, bring some of these guests in and have them talk to the kids about life and what martial arts and the discipline has given to them."With the US Presidential elections around the corner, Woodley wore a Black Lives Matter t-shirt with a red cap (similar to the red caps used in the Donald Trump campaign) stating: “Make Racists Catch The Fade Again.”Woodley’s opponent Colby Covington, an avid Trump supporter, had a differing opinion. While wearing a red cap with the slogan, “Keep America Great,” Covington responded to the stance by Woodley with some ferocious ignorance."Tyron asked not to engage with me in person, doing his little thing.

"He's trying to copy what I do - he's the only one that's racist.

"And the only race there is in this fight is the race to get him out of the UFC."

Woodley had caused controversy during the weigh-in when he refused to wear a mask.

With tensions high within the United States, as sports fans all we can hope for is a sporting fight between two fearsome athletes.
