Gareth Bale: Tottenham secure return of Real Madrid superstar on season-long loan

It’s official: Gareth Bale is a Tottenham player once again.

Spurs have announced the Welshman’s return to north London on a loan deal from Real Madrid, seven years after he left for Los Blancos.

He’s not come alone, either. Tottenham have also announced that left-back Sergio Reguilon has also completed a move from Real Madrid – and this one is permanent.

The Spanish defender is said to have cost around €30m.

Spurs have now completed two of the biggest deals of the summer transfer window and both men will surely help Jose Mourinho’s side challenge for the top four.

Bale himself, will just be happy he’s finally escaped the Bernabeu.

Despite having an incredible career with Madrid that saw him win two La Liga titles, four Champions Leagues, the Copa del Rey and three Club World Cups, the forward is no longer rated by his club.

Zinedine Zidane made it clear that he’s not part of this season’s plans at Madrid and over the last few weeks, Los Blancos have been working to ‘erase’ Bale from the club.

They have finally got their wish with the Welshman returning to the Premier League.

After Spurs lost their opening fixture at the weekend, it was clear Jose Mourinho needed big signings and he’s just got two of them.

With Bale and Reguilon, Tottenham could well be a force this season and the top four seems well within their reach.

Announcing two new superstars at once… what a day to be a Spurs fan!
