Aston Villa's summer has been the stuff of dreams.

After securing promotion from the Championship Dean Smith's side faced an incredibly tough challenge last term as they battled to avoid the drop.

It took them nearly all season, but they managed to retain their top flight status on the final weekend of the campaign.

Now it's time to kick on.

Focusing on quality over quantity, the midlands club have had an outstanding transfer window so far after bringing in some top additions.

Matty Cash, Ollie Watkins and Emiliano Martinez arrived at the club for big money from Nottingham Forest, Brentford and Arsenal respectively, before Bertrand Traore completed a £19million move from Lyon.

That has taken the club's overall spend to around £74 million so far this summer, and it seems that the club aren't finished yet.

Reports from The Express and Star have claimed that Josh King is still a target for the Premier League club.

The striker is thought to be keen on a move after suffering relegation from the top flight with Bournemouth.

Valued at £14.4million by Transfermarkt, King is yet to feature for the Cherries so far this term after being left out of Jason Tindall's matchday squad in each of their three fixtures so far.

With 48 caps to his name, King is likely to be keen on a move but it remains to be seen whether he'll be able to secure a move away from the south coast.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

Josh King would be a great signing for Aston Villa.

While a deal for Ollie Watkins is a massive boost for Dean Smith, there's a feeling that he is still looking to add another option to his forward line.

Watkins can play anywhere across the front line, and the addition of a player such as King would offer a similar threat.

The Villa boss is looking to add some quality to his squad and while it remains to be seen whether they'll formalise this interest, it's a link that has been going on since the end of last term.

Bournemouth are under no pressure to sell and that means that a deal could be expensive, but the last thing that the Cherries want is to have an unhappy player on their hands.
