Leeds United are enjoying life right now.A 10-point buffer saw them win the Championship last term in emphatic fashion as they ended their 16-year exile from the top flight. It has been a long road back to the Premier League and Leeds have one man to thank for their recent success. We're talking about Marcelo Bielsa, of course. His two years at the club have seen a drastic improvement in the team's fortunes and that is why they're now competing in the top flight.Bielsa has a strong relationship with the players in his first team squad and that has seen the team kick on and return themselves to their rightful place in the Premier League. There's an acceptance that Leeds will need to strengthen if they're to avoid relegation this term, and so the additions of Robin Koch and Rodrigo have been warmly received. But there's likely to be more on the way.p1eir0ei8prun4ji4cg6lcnq9.jpgSeveral positions have been labelled as areas to improve, but most notably in offensive areas. While names such as Rodrigo De Paul have been linked with a move, it seems that Leeds could be plotting a move for Dan James. The Manchester United man faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to strengthen his squad. One man who knows all about Leeds United's transfer hopes is The Athletic writer Phil Hay, who has fuelled speculation over a deal.Hay said: "They’re more than ready to move on James but they need Man Utd to make him available first.”

Asked if it would be a loan deal or permanent, Hay added: "Would be up for discussion.

"If it was a loan, Man Utd would probably want an obligation.

"Leeds still have one more domestic loan to use.”

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This would be a great move for Leeds United if they could pull it off.

Dan James scored four goals and created seven more as he played a key role for Manchester United last term.

But his position in the squad could be in question.

There's no doubt that James would be a big player for Leeds United.

His technical ability combined with his physical and mental strength could make him a real success under Marcelo Bielsa, and that's something that could make a deal attractive.

However it is likely that a move would only happen if United were to strengthen.

Players such as Jadon Sancho have been linked with a move to Old Trafford, and it's likely that such a deal would only come to fruition if Solskjaer was able to bring the Dortmund starlet to Manchester.
