Leeds United have just two weeks to put the finishing touches to their first team squad.

After 16 long years away from the Premier League the Whites have enjoyed an excellent couple of years which has seen them progress at a rapid rate.

The hope is that this will continue this term.

After missing out on promotion during Marcelo Bielsa's first year in charge of the club, the Whites stormed to promotion last term after winning the league with a 10-point buffer on their nearest rivals.

Bielsa used a relatively small squad of players last term and looks likely to keep the faith with the vast majority as they look to cut their teeth in the top flight.

But being a coach of such experience, the Argentine is far from naïve about the challenge ahead.

Two major signings have already completed moves to Elland Road in the shape of Robin Koch and Valencia striker Rodrigo, while a number of young players have also completed moves.

But Leeds are far from done yet.

Victor Orta is determined to bring in an offensive midfielder to bolster the creativity in Bielsa's squad, with one player being regularly linked with a move.

Of course we're talking about Ryan Kent.

The Rangers star has established himself as one of the top players in the Scottish Premiership after impressing under Steven Gerrard.

Kent scored eight goals and created four for the Gers last term, alerting Leeds to his services.

Reports have claimed that the Whites have had offers rejected for the 23-year-old already this summer, with Rangers determined to keep their man.

But according to a fresh update they may be powerless to keeping him.

Football insider have claimed that Kent actually has a £20million release clause in his contract at Ibrox.

This means that Rangers could not stand in the winger's way should Leeds trigger that release clause with an offer in the next two weeks.

It would then be up to the player to undergo talks over personal terms with the club before deciding his fate.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This looks like a deal that go right to wire in this transfer window.

Leeds United are desperate to add pace and creativity into their squad and in Ryan Kent they have a player who can bring both.

Rangers are determined not to lose their player, but unfortunately they may not have a choice.

Should the Whites trigger that £20million release clause then it'll be up to Ryan Kent to decide where his future lies.

He has already said that he's happy in Glasgow, but if the opportunity comes up to move to the Premier League then it could be hard to say no.
