Thiago hasn’t even been a Liverpool player a week but he’s already a fan favourite. The Reds rarely sign ready-made world-class players but they certainly have in the form of the 29-year-old midfielder. And he showed his quality during his 45-minute debut against Chelsea on Sunday.Thiago came on at half-time and helped his side win 2-0 thanks to Sadio Mane’s brace. But the new signing certainly contributed as he successfully played 75 passes - the most by any player in Premier League history who played a maximum of 45 minutes.

It’s early days but Thiago could offer Liverpool something special. That bit of creativity and those incisive passes that the current midfielders can’t currently offer.

But it’s not just his performances on the pitch that Liverpool fans are loving.

After his signing was officially announced, Thiago’s new song was quickly going viral - a remix on 'Cuba' by the Gibson Brothers.

During his announcement video, the Liverpool media team showed Thiago the song and he absolutely loved it.

“It’s crazy,” he said. “How people can be so creative, it’s amazing.”

Asked if he liked it, Thiago responded: “I love it. Love it. It gives me positive vibes, as well.”

On Tuesday evening, the official Liverpool channels released the vlog of #ThiagoFriday.

It details the day from start to finish as Thiago arrives at Anfield and conducts the traditional photoshoots and announcement video.

However, there was one bit which Liverpool fans spotted during the video.

Thiago is standing in the tunnel and spots the famous ‘This Is Anfield’ sign.

He then revealed how one former player had told him not to touch it until he’s won a trophy.

“Fernando Torres told me not to touch the ‘This is Anfield’ sign until I win some trophies at the club, so I will respect that,” Thiago said. “To touch this sign you've to deserve it and earn it."

It's a tradition that current boss Jurgen Klopp implemented when he first took over.

"I've told my players not to touch the 'This Is Anfield' sign until they win something. It's a sign of respect," he said.

After winning the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League last season, the current squad are free to touch the sign before every match these days.

But Liverpool fans loved to hear that Thiago was sticking to the tradition he heard from Torres. Check out the best reaction on social media:

Unfortunately for Torres, he was never able to touch that sign as he went his Liverpool career trophyless. However, fans will be hoping that, come next season, Thiago will be able to.
