Leeds United have enjoyed an excellent summer so far.

After signing the likes of Robin Koch and Rodrigo from Freiburg and Valencia respectively, the marker was set with regards to the Whites' ambitions this term.

Marcelo Bielsa led his side to Championship glory last term with a 10-point buffer on their nearest rivals, and this term they'll be hoping to make a real impression in the top flight.

The Argentine will be looking to be loyal to the group of players who secured promotion for the club last term, but that doesn't mean that they won't be looking to strengthen further.

Diego Llorente looks to be closing in on a move to Elland Road, however it's the pursuit of a number 10 that looks set to rumble on.

Several players have already been linked with a move, but none more than Rodrigo De Paul.

The Udinese star is a long-term target for Leeds and is still being targeted an addition before the transfer window slams shut.

Reports from The Athletic have claimed that there is still some distance between Leeds and Udinese's asking price for the star, however according to reporter Beren Cross a deal could still happen.

Writing in a Q&A for Leeds Live, Cross said: "I can still see De Paul happening, but the longer it drags on the clearer it is how reluctant United are to risk overspending on him while Udinese do not drop their asking price.

"News of an even longer wait for fans to return will focus minds on the money, too."

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This transfer saga looks set to rumble on and on.

Rodrigo De Paul is certainly a player of real quality, and Leeds United are clearly very interested in a deal for the Udinese man.

But the asking price of £35million seems pretty steep.

It remains to be seen whether Leeds will be willing to meet the Serie A side in the middle.

Valued at £27million by Transfermarkt, De Paul scored seven goals and added seven assists last term which shows his quality.

That's why it's no surprise to see that Marcelo Bielsa is so keen to get a deal done.

Unfortunately for Leeds there's less than two weeks left of the transfer window, and that means that the pressure is on.

If the Whites want to get a deal done then they will need to move quickly, otherwise they risk missing out.
