Leeds United could be the Premier League's surprise package this term.

Sixteen years outside of the top flight is a long time in football, and the Whites are certainly keen to make up for lost time.

Marcelo Bielsa has played a huge part in the club's return to the top tier.

Despite missing out on promotion in his first year in charge, the Argentine managed to guide Leeds to glory in his second campaign after leading them to the title with a 10-point buffer on their nearest rivals.

The hope was that they could carry that momentum into the top flight - something that they seem to be doing.

Three points from two games is a decent return for the newly-promoted side who have scored an impressive seven goals already.

Unfortunately, they have also conceded seven as well which means that there's a pretty clear weakness in the ranks at present.

While Diego Llorente is being lined up as an addition to the centre of defence, it seems that Victor Orta is looking to bring in a new goalkeeper as well.

According to Football Insider, that man is Angus Gunn.

The Southampton goalkeeper is out of favour on the south coast but is still seen as a part of the club's long-term plans.

At 24 years of age, the Saints are hoping that the stopper can head out on loan in search of regular first team football - something that Leeds might be able to help with.

Kiko Casilla faces an uncertain future with the Whites, while Illan Meslier is very much one for the future.

That means that Bielsa could look to bring in a fresh face to take the burden from Meslier as he continues his development with the club.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This could be a sensible move by Leeds United.

A new goalkeeper is something that has flown under the radar somewhat this summer, but that doesn't mean that it's not needed.

Kiko Casilla seems like he's set to move on providing that Leeds can find a club who are willing to take on his substantial wages.

That means that options between the sticks will be limited.

Illan Meslier is definitely one for the future, but while the club don't want to block his development it's key that they have a goalkeeper who can make an immediate impact this season.

Valued at £4.5m by Transfermarkt, Angus Gunn could be the answer to that dilemma and it'll be interesting to see how this one plays out.
