Kai Havertz scored a brilliant hat-trick for Chelsea as he got up and running for the Blues following his £71.6 million move from Bayer Leverkusen. The 21-year-old was the star of the show in Chelsea's convincing EFL Cup win against Barnsley, netting a hat-trick for Frank Lampard's side.Of course, Havertz has to do it against stronger opposition to show that he's officially arrived. But his talent was on show at Stamford Bridge and the future certainly looks exciting. The Germany international got off the mark by scoring Chelsea's second goal against Barnsley, turning the ball home from close range after Tammy Abraham dummied Mason Mount's pass.

That was the first goal. The second would arrive in the 55th minute when Havertz fired home following more neat link-up play with Abraham.

And the hat-trick would arrive just after the hour mark when the attacking midfielder capitalised on a mistake from Barnsley's goalkeeper to slot the ball into an empty net.

So it's a matchball for Havertz in just his third game for Chelsea. His stats from the match show he balled out.

What stood out from Havertz's display, aside from the goals, was his workrate.

The youngster's endless running helped Chelsea put Barnsley under serious pressure throughout, and it even led to Chelsea's third goal on the night.

Havertz made a great tackle deep into Barnsley territory, with the ball running into Ross Barkley's path. The English midfielder fired home to make it 3-0.

That goal isn't scored without Havertz making the tackle.

Abraham and Olivier Giroud also got on the scoresheet as Lampard's side booked their place in the fourth round of the cup.

If we continue to see this level of performance from Havertz, then Chelsea will be very hard to stop.
