In Trent Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool have the right-back position covered for the next decade.

The 21-year-old is Liverpool through and through having joined the club as a six-year-old.

He’s already made 136 appearances for the Reds, winning the Premier League title, the Champions League, a Super Cup and a Club World Cup.

And he’s made it clear he doesn’t want to go anywhere else.

Which is why you’ve got to feel sorry for Neco Williams.

The Welshman also joined Liverpool at the age of six and has shown his quality whenever he’s been given the opportunity. The problem is, he hasn’t been too many chances due to Alexander-Arnold.

However, Williams was given a start during Liverpool’s EFL Cup clash against Lincoln. The 19-year-old played 90 minutes as the Reds ran out 7-2 winners.

Despite the result, Liverpool fans inexplicably decided to abuse Williams on social media for his performance.

In fact, the youngster received so much abuse that he’s now blacked out his social media accounts.

Disgusting.

We believe that sharing some of the abuse serves no purpose but at least there were messages of support for the full-back after he had reacted.

What is wrong with some people in the world?

Why do they feel the need to abuse a 19-year-old who didn’t even play too badly during a 7-2 victory? He lost the ball for Lincoln's first goal but does that really matter when you win by a five-goal margin?

Remember, this is a player who was nominated for the 2020 Golden Boy Award recently.

Way to kill his career, guys.

Williams may not have impressed quite like Curtis Jones against Lincoln but the Liverpool Echo gave him a respectable 6/10 rating for his display.

“Always on the front foot but given some problems defensively by Melbourne. Hampered at times by a lack of composure. Still learning, though,” they wrote.

Stay strong, Neco.
