This time last week, Liverpool fans were celebrating the arrival of Thiago at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp’s side finally got the transfer of the Spanish midfielder over the line after months of rumours.
Little did the fans know that the club would be announcing another exciting signing 24 hours later.
Step forward, Diogo Jota.
There had been very few reports linking the Portuguese with a move to the Premier League champions but, out of nowhere, he signed for a £45 million fee on Saturday.
That was obviously too late for him to be registered for the trip to Stamford Bridge to play Chelsea so Jota would have to wait for his debut.
And that came in the EFL Cup against Lincoln.
The 23-year-old had to make do with a place on the bench as he watched a much-changed Liverpool side dismantle Lincoln.
It was 4-0 at half-time and, by the time Jota was introduced in the 57th-minute, it was 5-0.
But Jota came on for Harvey Elliott with 33 minutes remaining to make his Liverpool debut in a match that eventually finished 7-2.
So, how did he do?
In truth, it was a quiet cameo from Jota as he operated from the left wing.
He looked bright and kept the ball well, playing it simple and linking up well with fellow debutant Konstantinos Tsimikas.
Shortly after coming on, he came very close to opening his Liverpool account after playing a one-two with Naby Keita before firing wide with his right foot. It was a glimpse of what he’s capable of.
While he played on the left, Jota was more than willing to operate centrally picking the ball up in tight spaces and trying to create chances.
While it wasn’t quite a dream debut, it was exciting to see the first signs of the big-money signing.

After the match, Klopp admitted he was pleased with Jota’s debut and said the former Wolves man showed ‘glimpses’ of his talent.
When asked whether he was happy with Jota’s display, Klopp replied: "Yeah, absolutely.
"I only wanted to give him 30 minutes actually. It was a little bit longer that he was on the pitch. He was involved and all that stuff. I think everybody could see some glimpses of what he can do for us."
He probably isn't ready to start Monday's Premier League clash against Arsenal but could be handed his first start against the same opponents later in the week.
