Just when you thought Barcelona had recovered from the Lionel Messi transfer saga, another one erupts.
Messi was angered when Ronald Koeman told Luis Suarez in no uncertain terms that he was no longer needed at the club.
The 33-year-old had enjoyed six incredible seasons at the Camp Nou and formed an incredible relationship with Messi both on and off the pitch.
But Koeman’s mind had been made up and has allowed Suarez to leave on a free despite having a year remaining on his current deal. Part of Messi’s desperation to leave Barca this summer was reportedly because of the way the club had treated Suarez.
And Messi made that pretty evident in his goodbye message to his best mate.
In a heartbreaking Instagram post, Messi wrote: “I was already getting the idea but today I entered the locker room and the card really fell. How difficult it is going to be not to continue sharing the day to day with you, both on the pitch and outside. We will miss you so much. It was many years, many mates, lunches, dinners ... Many things that will never be forgotten, every day together.
“It will be strange to see you with another shirt and much more to face you. You deserved to be fired as what you are: one of the most important players in the club’s history, achieving important things both as a group and individually. And not to get kicked out like they did. But the truth is that at this point nothing surprises me.
“I wish you all the best in this new challenge. I love you very much, I love you very much. See you soon friend.”
But Messi is far from the only person angry with the way Barca have treated a player who has scored 198 goals for the club in six years.
That’s because fans spotted that the third member of the formidable ‘MSN’ replied to Messi’s Instagram.
Step forward, Neymar.
He was seen to reply: "Incredible how they do things.”
MSN back together. You love to see it.
After joining Atletico, Suarez insisted that he expected to leave the club and explained how Koeman didn't want him.
"I leave with the feeling that I have fulfilled expectations," he said in a farewell press conference.
"I expected it because it had been said already before the coach told me but I can accept it. Players sometimes need a change, the club needed a change and this case the coach didn't want me.
"It's been a crazy month. Things have been invented, things that are not true that have been leaked and that annoy you but we have to try to stay away from all that.
"Everyone knows the relationship I have with Leo. When you arrive at Barcelona they say to be careful with Leo and now after many years, Leo and I get along spectacularly and they say you are bad for him.
"We know the time we had in the team and that we tried to perform at our best and live up to what Barcelona is and in my case, I can leave feeling proud."
