Liam Delap made his dream debut for Manchester City on Thursday night.
The 17-year-old scored his side's first goal in a 2-1 win against Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup, beating Mark Travers with a composed finish
Speaking after the game, the teenager explained just how much making his first professional start means.
"Since I was a boy all I dreamed of was playing senior football. To make my debut tonight and get a goal, there is no better feeling to be honest."
We bet Liam's father - Rory Delap - was one proud man last night. If you're not aware, Rory played professional football too, spending 14 seasons in the Premier League.
He had spells with Derby County, Southampton, Sunderland and Stoke City and had a cult following for his famous powerful throw-ins, which were regularly deployed as a secret weapon.
Rory never quite made it to a top club, challenging for silverware each season. But his son, playing for Man City, might just do that one day.
And that got us thinking about footballing sons who went on to become better than their dad. Check out some of the most famous examples below:
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
One of the most feared strikers in Europe, Aubameyang has been at the top for many years now. He made a name for himself at Borussia Dortmund, netting 141 goals in 213 games.
In 2017 he moved to Arsenal, where he's continued in a similar vein and become one of the Premier League's best players.
His father, Pierre Aubameyang, plied his trade as a defender for nine clubs, spending most of his career in France.
Thiago Alcantara
Thiago has just secured a move to Liverpool and has long been regarded as one of the best midfielders in Europe.
Having played for Bayern Munich and Barcelona, his CV boasts a ridiculous 24 major trophies.
Thiago's father Mazinho wasn't bad either. The Brazilian international defender won 12 trophies in an 18-year career, including the World Cup. But we still back his son to overtake him.
Erling Haaland
This one is pretty easy. Erling may only be 20-years-old but he's already tipped to become one of the world's best strikers.
After impressing with RB Salzburg he secured a move to Dortmund, where he's continuing to develop into one of the most feared forwards on the continent.
Alf-Inge Haaland wasn't a bad player, but he's probably most famous for being on the receiving end of a Roy Keane revenge tackle that pretty much ended his career.
Sergio Busquests
Busquests has been a staple in some of Barcelona's greatest ever teams. Without him, they wouldn't have been half as effective.
His role in midfield is to do all the dirty work and boy did it pay dividends. Sergio is one of the most decorated players of all time, winning 29 club trophies, plus the World Cup and the Euros.
Interestingly, Carles Busquets also played for Barcelona and won 16 trophies in a 15-year career, but his son has already doubled that trophy haul.
Frank Lampard
There's very little that Frank Lampard hasn't achieved in football. He won it all with Chelsea as a player and now manages the club that made him a star.
Oh, and don't forget, he's also the club's record goalscorer and made 106 appearances for England.
Lampard Sr has always been watching on proudly from the stands. He didn't quite match his son's incredible football career but did win two FA Cups with West Ham.
Gonzalo Higuain
Once the most expensive striker in Serie A, Higuain has had quite an impressive career, turning out for the likes of Real Madrid, Napoli, Juventus and Chelsea.
He's won 14 major trophies playing for some of Europe's biggest clubs and also made 75 appearances for Argentina.
Jorge Higuain, on the other hand, failed to make a single appearance for his country but did play for both River Plate and Boca Juniors in South America.
Miroslav Klose
Ah, Mr World Cup himself. Klose deserves that nickname, holding the record for the most goals scored in the finals - 16 to be precise.
He won football's biggest prize in 2014 and on top of that, had a brilliant club career with the likes of Werder Bremen, Bayern Munich and Lazio.
Josef Klose did represent his country, Poland, at international level but didn't have a career that rivalled the achievements of his son.
Paolo Maldini
When you think of legendary footballers, you think of Paolo Maldini. The Italian is arguably the greatest defender of all time.
He spent his entire career with AC Milan, winning 26 trophies during an incredible 25-year career which also saw him scoop a host of individual awards.
Paolo's father, Cesare, was pretty good too. He won six trophies as a player for Milan before also finding success as a coach.
Plenty of footballers have stepped out of their father's shadow over the years. No pressure then, Liam. Let's just hope he takes a good throw-in!
