Manny Pacquiao confirms Conor McGregor fight is on - will donate earnings to COVID-19 victims

Pacquiao has confirmed his McGregor fight is on

Manny Pacquiao vs Conor McGregor is ON.

On Friday night, the UFC star took to Twitter to drop a bombshell that suggested he's made plans to fight the eight-division world champion in the Middle East.

While discussing his next career move on social media, McGregor tweeted:

"I’m boxing Manny Pacquiao next in the Middle East. It will be a true honour to have faced two of the greatest boxers of the modern era, afraid of a fight."

His announcement sent fans into a frenzy and less than 24 hours later, Pacquiao himself confirmed the bout will go ahead next year.

"For the sake of all the Filipino COVID-19 victims, Senator Manny Pacquiao will be fighting UFC superstar Conor McGregor next year," a statement from his office read.

"The huge portion of his earnings will proceed to those who are affected nationwide by the pandemic."

McGregor vs Pacquiao is on

Wow. It's actually on.

This will mark a sensational return to boxing for McGregor, who last stepped inside the squared circle back in 2017 to face Floyd Mayweather Jr in a blockbuster fight.

Pacquiao, on the other hand, has fought more recently, beating Keith Thurman in a WBA super world welterweight title defence in July 2019.

Pacquiao was victorious last July

Notorious vs Pac-Man could actually be a fight long in the making. Earlier this year, McGregor claimed that he had already held talks over a huge bout.

"I would be open to other boxing bouts. Manny has been, we're actually close, there's been a sitch, we're actually close to signing Manny," he said back in January.

"There has been talks about the Manny fight. There was an offer made on that."

McGregor will return to the boxing ring

Eight months down the line and it sounds like a deal will officially be done. We can't wait for this one.
