Thiago Silva will want to move on from his Premier League debut as quickly as possible.Chelsea's summer signing made a catastrophic error and was replaced as captain at half-time in the Blues' 3-3 draw against West Brom on Saturday.Silva's blushes were spared somewhat by Chelsea's second-half comeback from 3-0 down, but it's prompted concerns about the 36-year-old's suitability to the Premier League. The former Paris Saint-Germain defender was dribbled past twice and failed to make a single tackle in the match. His stats, per Squawka, make for grim reading.

Silva was made captain

We need to see more of Silva in action before he's written him off, but he arrived with plenty of expectations.

Indeed, Frank Lampard was ready to give him the captain's armband despite the fact that he hasn't learned English yet.

“He’s not speaking the language enough to do it in that sense, but it doesn’t matter with someone like him. He delivers it with actions and presence and how he is with people around him," Lampard explained pre-match, per Metro

But Silva failed to lead by example and handed over the armband upon Cesar Azpilicueta's arrival at half-time, before being replaced by Olivier Giroud in the second half.

Silva will have to deal with his error being replayed over and over again for the coming days.

It came in the 25th minute of the match, after Chelsea had already fallen behind through Callum Robinson's early strike.

Silva failed to control a simple pass which allowed Robinson to burst through and fire past Willy Caballero for his and West Brom's second goal of the match.

There were shades of Steven Gerrard against Chelsea in 2014 in the way Silva lurched desperately for the ball.
