Bruno Fernandes hasn’t been in England for long but he’s already developed a reputation for the dark arts. The Portuguese midfielder, crowned Manchester United’s Player of the Year despite joining halfway through the 2019/20 season, has been accused of diving on more than one occasion. The latest came in United’s defeat to Crystal Palace in their first game of the campaign. Some fans wanted Fernandes banned after he exaggerated a fall in an attempt to win a free-kick.It wasn’t a good look for the 26-year-old.

Back in June, former Premier League midfielder Danny Murphy wondered why Fernandes felt the need to dive.

It came after he attempted to win a late penalty in United’s draw with Tottenham by leaning into Eric Dier.

“He doesn’t need to indulge in diving and gain a reputation for being public enemy No 1. He is talented enough to win matches and make himself a hero without such antics,” Murphy wrote in his column for the Daily Mail.

But the Portugal international’s fall against Palace suggests he hasn’t bothered to follow Murphy’s advice.

When you think that he’s only been in the Premier League for nine months, it’s pretty laughable.

Here are a couple more of Fernandes’ worst 'dives' during his time in England.

Fernandes is the biggest beneficiary when Man United do win penalties. He’s scored nine in all competitions since arriving at the club, the latest coming in the Red Devils’ 3-2 win against Brighton on Saturday.
