Leeds United look set to be the Premier League's surprise package this term.

After spending 16 years away from the top flight few would have predicted how well the Whites would adapt to life back in the fast lane.

Marcelo Bielsa has made a huge impact since arriving at the club two years ago, and for that he deserves credit.

Leeds absolutely stormed to promotion last term and ended up winning the league by 10 clear points.

That has left the team brimming with confidence - something that they've carried into this season.

Bielsa's side have won two of their three league games so far this term, with that one defeat being a narrow loss to Premier League champions Liverpool on the opening weekend.

A large part of the club's success has been down to the Argentine's faith in the Leeds first team squad, but while Bielsa is fiercely loyal he also knows that the team need to add quality.

Robin Koch, Diego Llorente and Rodrigo have all joined the club as first team additions this summer, and it seems that they're far from finished.

Signing an attacking winger is something of a priority for Victor Orta and his recruitment team, and according to reports, it seems that one target is emerging as a frontrunner to join.

The Daily Star have claimed that Leeds are awaiting a decision over a move for Dan James.

The Manchester United star has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford and could be made available before the end of the window.

That will likely depend on United's pursuit of Jadon Sancho, who would most the Wales international even further down the pecking order if he was to arrive.

Once Solskjaer has made his plans, it's claimed that they will be relayed to Bielsa who will be waiting with bated breath to hear of James' availability.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This would a heck of a deal for Leeds United if they could pull it off.

The Whites are long-term admirers of Daniel James having famously been in for him before he completed his move for Man United.

However with his opportunities at Old Trafford now limited it seems that they could be closing in on their man.

Valued at £17.1million by Transfermarkt, the Wales international would be a sure-fire hit at Elland Road.

Renowned for his pace and tenacity, James seems like a perfect fit for Marcelo Bielsa and his system.

Should Leeds be able to get a deal done then it could be a cracking move.

However if United choose to keep hold of him then Leeds will need to move quickly to find an alternative.
