Tottenham Hotspur are facing a pivotal few days in the transfer market.

After a mixed start to the new Premier League season it seems that Jose Mourinho's side are in need of some new additions.

Four points from three games so far is mid-table form and that's something that will need to improve if the club are to meet their objectives this term.

A sixth place finish last season was far from being good enough and that's why the targets facing Mourinho have increased.

Spurs need to qualify for the Champions League this term, and Daniel Levy is doing everything that he can to make that happen.

The north London side have enjoyed a decent transfer window so far by making five senior additions already.

That includes the signings of Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid, as well as the deals for Matt Doherty, Joe Hart and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg earlier this summer.

But Tottenham are still looking for at least two more.

As well as signing a central defender to replace Jan Vertonghen, the club are desperate to sign a striker.

Harry Kane is the undisputed first choice attacker for Spurs but they're on the lookout for another player to provide competition for places.

Several names have been linked with a move, including Haris Seferovic.

Reports from Football Insider have claimed that Tottenham are lining up a move for the Benfica striker.

It's claimed that the north London side are preparing a loan offer for the Switzerland international as they look to find a solution to their striker problem before the international deadline on October 5.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

Another day, another striker linked with a move to north London.

It's the transfer link that has rumbled on for months and months and looks set to stretch into the final knockings of the transfer window.

Tottenham need a new striker - that's common knowledge.

While Harry Kane possesses all of the quality in the world it's unrealistic to expect him to play and perform well in every game in a season - particularly when Spurs could be playing 50+ fixtures in all competitions.

Kane has struggled a little bit with injuries of late and that is something that will weight heavily on the mind of Jose Mourinho.

After all, if he faces a spell on the sidelines then Tottenham will be in trouble.

Valued at £9million by Transfermarkt, Haris Seferovic could be a decent option.

A player with 65 international caps, a loan switch for the experienced striker could be a very shrewd move as they look to bring someone in who can hit the ground running.

Whether he's the man that the club move for remains to be seen, but what we do know is that it will be an interesting few weeks.
