Liverpool made it three wins out of three with a terrific 3-1 victory over Arsenal on Monday night.

New signing Diogo Jota came off the bench to score the third and wrap up all three points.

However, fellow new signing Thiago was absent.

He had missed training over the weekend and it was reported that he could be missing for a few weeks.

And now, it’s been revealed that he’s tested positive for coronavirus.

Liverpool revealed the news on their official website.

It read: “Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently self-isolating according to the necessary guidelines.

The 29-year-old, who missed Monday’s match against Arsenal, has exhibited minor symptoms of the virus but is in good health and is getting better.

The club has, and will continue to follow, all protocols relating to COVID-19 and Thiago will remain in self-isolation for the required period of time.

“LFC first-team doctor, Dr Jim Moxon, said: ‘It is the choice of each individual whether they reveal publicly the outcome of a COVID-19 test. We have followed all the protocols to the letter and Thiago is OK. He will be self-isolating now as per the guidelines and hopefully he’ll be back with us soon.’”

Thiago has made a terrific start to his Liverpool career, breaking a Premier League record during his 45-minute debut against Chelsea.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich midfielder came off the bench against Chelsea with the scores level at 0-0 but the Blues down to 10 men.

And Thiago went on to produce a fine performance, making 75 passes - more than any Chelsea player during the entire match and the most any player has made who has played a maximum of 45 minutes.

We wish Thiago all the best in his recovery.
