It was a debut to remember for Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon on Tuesday night. The left-back, who joined Spurs from Real Madrid for a fee which could rise to £32 million, played the full 90 minutes in the EFL Cup victory over Chelsea.Reguilon didn’t get off to the best of starts but ended up playing a key role in Tottenham’s win.The 23-year-old was at fault for the opening goal, scored by Timo Werner.Robbed of possession by Cesar Azpilicueta, who then sold the same player with a turn just outside the box, Werner eventually rifled the ball past Hugo Lloris to put Chelsea 1-0 up.However, Reguilon made amends in the closing stages of the game, providing the assist for Erik Lamela’s equaliser.

Tottenham then went on to win the Round of 16 tie on penalties after Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount missed from the spot.

The defensive error aside, Spurs fans were very encouraged with what they saw from their new signing.

And there was one moment in particular which has gone viral on social media.

Tottenham fans knew Reguilon was quick - but they probably didn’t realise *how* quick until watching him on Tuesday.

Shortly before the end of the first half, the Spain international showed off his searing pace to make a perfectly-timed recovery tackle on Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Hudson-Odoi is no slouch and had a massive head-start on Reguilon, but the Spaniard sprinted as fast as he could and made a brilliant tackle.

We would love to have seen Jose Mourinho’s reaction to this. The Portuguese coach probably celebrated it like a goal.

While it’s obviously very early days in his Tottenham career, Reguilon appears to possess all the tools to become a big hit in the Premier League.

He’s likely to make his maiden appearance in England’s top division against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
