Leeds United have enjoyed a brilliant summer.

After securing promotion from the Championship it was always going to be a big challenge to get themselves equipped for a return to the top flight.

But the Whites seem to have taken it in their stride.

A large part of the smooth transition has been down to the exquisite recruitment strategy in place at the club.

As well as signing a number of talented young players for the future, Victor Orta and his recruitment team have been working tirelessly for months as they sought players who would improve the level of quality in the first team squad.

Bielsa is particularly demanding as a head coach and so it takes a special breed of player to be able to thrive in his high-intensity system.

The Argentine is fiercely protective of the players who secured promotion for the club, and that's why the focus this summer has been on quality, not quantity.

So far, Leeds have completed deals for Robin Koch, Rodrigo and Diego Llorente alongside the additions of Illan Meslier on a permanent deal and Jack Harrison on loan for another season.

Another high profile addition looks set to arrive at Elland Road as well, with Michael Cuisance said to be closing in on a switch from Bayern Munich.

That deal could be worth around £20million, but according to Phil Hay of The Athletic, it may not be the last piece of business done by Leeds in this window.

Writing for The Athletic, Hay said: "A winger is the one thing they’re targeting now.

"If they could get Dan James from Manchester United, they’ll take him.

But as Bielsa said himself last week, if Cuisance was to be their last signing then it wouldn’t be a huge problem.

"Bielsa feels able to adapt and work with the squad he’s got."

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This is an incredibly exciting time for supporters of Leeds United.

After getting off to such a strong start to life in the Premier League, fans have high hopes of doing more than merely avoiding a relegation battle.

The imminent arrival of Michael Cuisance is a big signal of intent, but it seems that they aren't finished yet.

Leeds have been linked with several wingers this summer, and it appears that this is where the club's focus will lie.

Whether that deal gets done or not, it's been an excellent summer.

Marcelo Bielsa will be thrilled with the signings that have been made, and that's the main thing.

You get the impression that one final signing would really top the summer off, and if that can be done in the next week then the Whites will be a real force to be reckoned with.
