Arsenal have made some brilliant signings so far this season, bringing in Brazilian duo Willian from Chelsea and Gabriel from Lille, who’ve both hit the ground running at the North London giants.
Accompanying the two are three loanees from last season, two of which who have signed permanently this window, those being Cedric and Pablo Mari. The third loanee is, of course, Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid.
So, why bring in Houssem Aouar?
The young central midfielder is highly regarded as being one of the most talented young midfielders in Europe. His presence on a pitch can help orchestrate play, meaning he would not only be a great signing for The Gunners, but for any team.
However, the main question is, how would Aouar perform at the Emirates?
To get an insight of this, sports site Football.London used the Football Manager 2020 editor to put Aouar into Mikel Arteta's side ahead of the 2020/21 season.
Due to the comprehensive system that makes Football Manager work, which includes a scouting network of around 1,000 people, using the game to simulate such things can give a more real life simulation, rather than using other football games like FIFA.
The sports site then proceeded to simulate the whole of the 2020/21 season to see just how big of an impact the young French midfielder would make.
The Frenchman would face some stern competition to play in the centre of the park at Arsenal, with there already being some real talent in those central roles, including Ceballos.
However, Aouar would brush aside all competition and go on to form a solid partnership with Granit Xhaka.
Throughout the season, Aouar would make 41 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 11 goals and assisting 12 along the way. The young midfielder certainly lived up to his hype in his debut season, creating more chances than any other Arsenal player.
He was also the club’s fourth top goal scorer, with only Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Mesut Ozil(?!) scoring more.
Aouar, however, did not make any Europa League appearances at all and could possibly be the reason why The Gunners wouldn’t even make it out of the group stage.
In the Premier League, though, Aouar would help Arsenal regain that infamous fourth place with a total of 79 points and securing Champions League football, beating both Manchester United and Chelsea for a place in one of the world’s most prestigious football competitions.
So there you have it, that's how Aouar (could) perform at Arsenal this season?
