Grand Theft Auto: Every game has been ranked from best to worst

There is no denying it, Grand Theft Auto is one of the biggest video game series going, with GTA 6 perhaps being the most anticipated game release at this current time despite next to nobody knowing anything about it!

Fans were left disappointed with Rockstar’s announcement at the PlayStation 5 launch event, as some had maybe got their hopes up that we’d be getting a new instalment to the franchise to coincide with the launch of the next generation of consoles.

As you will probably know by now, instead of getting a new GTA to play on the new consoles, we are instead getting another version of GTA 5… can’t wait to finish that story for a third time.

For now, though, a fan has ranked every GTA instalment, including the downloadable content that came extra for GTA 4.

The grading starts at the bottom with ‘D’ and goes all the way up to ‘S’ which stands for super.

Remember, though, this is just a fan’s opinion, yours may differ and that is totally acceptable!

D – Grand Theft Auto, GTA: London 1969, GTA 2

The first three instalments to the GTA series, the games give a bird’s-eye view over your character, far different from the GTA games we know today.

C – GTA: Chinatown Wars, GTA 4, GTA 4: The Lost and Damned, GTA 4: The Ballad of Gay Tony

Perhaps quite harshly ranked, GTA 4 finds itself in the C grade. The story that followed cousins Niko and Roman was brilliant at its date of release, with some of the game’s mechanics being praised for being better than Rockstar’s latest release in the series.

B – GTA: Liberty City Stories

A spin-off from GTA 3, the game takes place three years before the events of GTA 3 and was initially launched on the PSP, before a port was made for the PlayStation 2.

A – GTA: Vice City, GTA: Vice City Stories, GTA 3

Vice City has certainly gained a lot of attention recently, as the fictional city closely based on Miami is the rumoured setting for GTA 6.

S – GTA 5, GTA: San Andreas

GTA: San Andreas is undeniably not just one of the best games in the GTA series, but one of the best games to be released around the time, with it being regarded as one of the best ever PS2 games. As for GTA 5, its online mode keeps bringing more and more new content, so it shouldn’t really be that surprising that it’s coming to the new generation of consoles.

The ranking of the GTA series is very much up for debate, with some holding GTA 4 with much higher regards than this list.

Do you agree with this tier list?
