Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s first goal in Everton’s 4-1 win against West Ham on Wednesday was pretty special.
The 23-year-old brought down a long pass from Michael Keane with his left foot before scoring past Darren Randolph with his right.
It was the first of three for Calvert-Lewin as he scored his second hat-trick of the season.
The Everton forward has made an incredible start to the 2020/21 season, scoring eight goals in five appearances.
And he’s been rewarded for his efforts with a place in England’s squad for their October internationals.
Calvert-Lewin’s status among Everton’s fans couldn’t be higher and one supporter wanted more to be made about his first goal against West Ham.
Twitter user @RichyNSO even came for Liverpool duo Virgil van Dijk and Roberto Firmino as he pleaded for more coverage on Calvert-Lewin’s goal.
“If Van Dijk does what Keane does and Firmino does what DCL does then this is getting a 3-part documentary btw,” the fan wrote.
The coverage given to Liverpool right now is at an all-time high. They are the reigning Premier League champions and dominate the media landscape.
But unfortunately, @RichyNSO probably couldn’t have picked out a worse goal to use to take a shot at Everton’s biggest rivals.
Why? Because Liverpool HAVE scored a goal just like Calvert-Lewin’s - and it wasn’t their star players who were involved.
Worse still is that it came again Everton.
Origi scored a similar goal last year
Last year, Liverpool defeated Everton 5-2 at Anfield in the Premier League, with Divock Origi scoring the Reds’ third with a fine lob over Jordan Pickford.
The Belgian striker brought down a long pass from Dejan Lovren before dinking the ball over Pickford.
A Liverpool fan reminded the Everton supporter of this on Twitter in the perfect comeback to his tweet.
They call that game, set and match.
