Victor Orta is set to be one of the busiest men in England as the transfer window approaches its conclusion.
However, a move for the Bayern midfielder has fallen through because of a failed medical and plenty of alternatives to Cantwell are being talked about.
A winger looked as though it would be the main priority before the window slams shut next Monday but they will now need to address their midfield too.
After all, they are missing both Pablo Hernandez and Adam Forshaw through injury.
Where Orta looks to prioritise now is anyone's guess but he'll certainly have to do some quick negotiating in order to get one or two deals over the line.
One name that's also been talked about in the last week or so is Ryan Sessegnon.
Leeds were linked with a move for the youngster earlier this week and have reportedly even been in contact with Tottenham over a season-long loan deal.
Those claims have since been backed up by football agent Jamie Holsgrove who appeared on the Rumour Review podcast this week.
Talking about Sessegnon he said:
"I believe he’s been linked with Leeds United, I think Victor Orta has been watching him closely. Celtic have been vocal in the press about him, I’m not sure he’d want to go up to Scotland and play his football.
"He’s a big player, you want him to be playing first-team football. If Leeds can capture somebody like Ryan I think it’d be a big, big signing for them."
GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...
Sessegnon is a fabulous young player but Tottenham must be wary of loaning players to Leeds.
Marcelo Bielsa usually sticks by his crop of players religiously and once you join the club, it's an incredibly tough challenge to try and get in the side.
Spurs have already felt the true force of that when they loaned Jack Clarke back to Elland Road last summer.
After a breakthrough season where he scored against Aston Villa in the Championship, Clarke subsequently earned a move to Tottenham. However, after being sent back for a season to Yorkshire, he was recalled in January having received just 19 minutes of second-tier action.
Of course, Sessegnon is a more proven player than Clarke but it might well have Jose Mourinho second-guessing about where he chooses to send the 20-year-old.
After all, Leeds are well settled on the left-hand side where Jack Harrison has been Bielsa's preferred choice for three seasons now.
It'll be interesting to see where this deal goes.
