Tottenham Hotspur have enjoyed a fine start to the season.

While they did lose their opening game of the campaign, going down 1-0 to an Everton side that has won every game in the Premier League thus far, they have impressed since.

A 5-2 win over Southampton whetted the appetites of fans, while a 1-1 draw against Newcastle United was nothing short of a VAR-assisted robbery.

They have also progressed to the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup after a penalty shootout triumph over London rivals Chelsea, while they have secured safe passage to the Europa League group stages too, beating Lokomotiv Plovdiv, Shkendija and then thumping Maccabi Haifa 7-2 earlier this week.

Their transfers have helped foster an attitude of positivity too, with Gareth Bale returning to the club where he made his name and the likes of Sergio Reguilon, Carlos Vinicius, and Matt Doherty further strengthening their ranks.

They will face Manchester United on Sunday and the transfer deadline falls on Monday, meaning that the club have just over 48 hours to conclude their business in an orderly fashion.

And it seems that they are remaining active.

Fabrizio Romano, the well-known journalist, claims that Spurs are set to conclude the exit of Ryan Sessegnon on an initial loan.

He will move to Bundesliga club Hoffenheim as he looks to get some first-team football under his belt and attempt to realise the potential that convinced the club to pay £25m to sign him from Fulham.

He has not been in Jose Mourinho’s plans in recent weeks and has yet to play in any competition in 2020/21.

He was on the bench against Plovdiv but, now, he will be heading abroad, hoping to improve and grow in the Bundesliga.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

This is a good move for Spurs.

Sessegnon has the ability to be a regular starter for the club; he can play at left-back and on the left wing and has pace, the ability to beat a man and an eye for goal.

But the signing of Reguilon means he is unlikely to get much chance this term and a short-term move could give him the boost he really needs.

Best case scenario, he stars and comes back to fight for his place under Mourinho; worst case scenario, he proves that he perhaps isn’t ready for Spurs and needs to move on permanently.

For Tottenham, this is something of a win-win.
