Security around Ed Woodward’s house will reportedly be beefed up around transfer deadline day.

According to The Mirror, there are fears the Manchester United chief executive could be targeted by angry fans for the second time in 2020, following an earlier incident back in January.

United supporters are thoroughly fed up with Woodward and the Glazer family following yet another frustrating transfer window.

But there’s still time for the powers that be at Old Trafford to pull something special out of the bag before the window closes on Monday.

Donny van de Beek is still the only signing Man Utd have made so far this summer, although Edinson Cavani is poised to sign a two-year contract with the Red Devils.

If Woodward does manage to save United’s summer transfer window - and yes, that is a big ‘if’ - then what might the club’s first-choice XI look like after it closes?

Goalkeeper: David de Gea

Dean Henderson has impressed whenever he’s played at the start of this season, but David de Gea will continue as United’s number one goalkeeper for the time being.

That’s unless the Spaniard has a particularly bad game against Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.

Right-back: Aaron Wan-Bissaka

In terms of right-backs, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is far and away Man Utd’s best option.

Centre-back: Harry Maguire

Harry Maguire needs to step up and lead by example in his role as United’s captain.

Centre-back: Eric Bailly

Victor Lindelof has been poor of late. Solskjaer will be desperately hoping that the injury-prone Eric Bailly can keep himself fit over the coming months.

Left-back: Alex Telles

After weeks of haggling, Man Utd need to cough up and meet FC Porto’s £18 million asking price in order to sign Alex Telles.

Midfield: Paul Pogba

Arguably Man Utd’s most talented player, fans want to see Paul Pogba consistently producing the goods this season.

Midfield: Nemanja Matic

Which player partners Pogba in central midfield? Nemanja Matic is probably just ahead of Scott McTominay in the pecking order at Old Trafford.

Attacking midfield: Bruno Fernandes

One of the first names on Solskjaer’s teamsheet, that won’t change regardless of which players come in on deadline day.

Right-wing: Jadon Sancho

Man Utd remain determined to sign Jadon Sancho, who did not feature in Borussia Dortmund’s 4-0 win over Freiburg on Saturday. Borussia Dortmund insist they won’t sell the winger, but all could change if United produce an offer the German club can’t refuse.

Left-wing: Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford has got the left-wing spot nailed down for the time being.

Centre-forward: Edinson Cavani

Edinson Cavani is a proper No. 9, but it’s still debatable whether Anthony Martial is.

In the big games, we can see Solskjaer opting for Cavani over the Frenchman in the centre-forward position.
