Michael Jordan vs LeBron James... the biggest GOAT debate in basketball.

The debate is so big in fact, it's even got boxing's GOAT discussing it... that's Floyd Mayweather if you were wondering.

Mayweather has given his opinion on the age-old debate, dodging the question brilliantly as he argued both players could be classed as the greatest.

Speaking with Shannon Sharpe on ‘Club Shay Shay’, 'The Best Ever' boxer offered his views on basketball’s best ever, commenting that LeBron’s stature would play into his favour in a one-on-one contest, before giving a completely different answer to his first pick.

"LeBron James, I'm going to choose. If they played against each other, LeBron James is too big and strong and too fast. But if I had to choose one, Ima choose Michael Jordan," commented Mayweather.

With the LA Lakers taking a 2-0 lead in the NBA finals series against the Miami Heat, LeBron’s side need to win just two of the remaining five fixtures for ‘King’ James to earn his fourth NBA Championship.

The 6ft 9in forward has 58 points to his name in the opening two games against his former team, with the four-time NBA MVP and 16-time NBA All-Star looking to win the competition for the first time since 2016.

Comparisons between the two players is America’s answer to the Lionel Messi versus Cristiano Ronaldo debate, with LeBron’s competitor MJ having been named NBA MVP five times in an illustrious career that saw him win the NBA Championship a whopping six times.

Standing at three inches shorter than LeBron, Jordan could potentially struggle against the Lakers superstar in a one-on-one, as Mayweather suggests, but the accolades and achievements earned in his magnificent career is what 'Money' believes elevates the former Chicago Bulls shooting guard to the top.

Should the Lakers and LeBron go on to lift the Larry O’Brien Trophy in the coming weeks, then the pendulum may swing once more in the Ohio-born forward’s favour, but for Floyd Mayweather, Jordan is still the GOAT.
