Sunday afternoon proved exactly why we love the Premier League. At Old Trafford, Manchester United were smashed 6-1 by Tottenham... but that wasn't the most embarrassing result of the day. Liverpool clearly had eyes on their rivals' result and thought 'nope, we can do worse than that'. Inexplicably, the champions were battered 7-2 by Aston Villa. Aston Villa! A team that left it until the final day to avoid relegation last season! No one saw it coming. It was certainly an embarassing result for Jurgen Klopp's side and as you can expect, Liverpool fans went in meltdown. Some blamed Adrian for failing to step up in Alisson's absence, others blamed the defence for conceding seven, while some even blamed the manager for failing to fix any of the problems. Liverpool were well beaten by Aston VillaBut in reality, there's no way that one individual can be blamed for Liverpool's failing on Sunday night. And that's something that former player Dejan Lovren was trying to explain on Twitter. When the full-time whistle blew, supporters took to social media to blast their team, but that didn't sit well with the Croatian defender, who hit back with some tweets of his own. "Never blame one or two players for a defeat. There is 11 players on the pitch who work as a TEAM, sometimes there are good and bad days, tomorrow is a new day. Move on!" he wrote.

Lovren's tweet didn't go down well with everyone, but he didn't waste any time hitting back at Liverpool 'fans' who wanted to slam the team.

"Dejan, just shut up FFS. Just because you’ve left doesn’t mean you can start talking for others. We’ve conceded 7," one said, to which Lovren responded: "Who the hell are you??".

Another supporter tweeted: "Lovren's definitely calling Adrian the Spanish Stevie Wonder," to which the former red replied: "And you have no clue about professional football. Play Fifa and judge."

Further down the replies he even called out people for 'not being a proper supporter of a big club' and just generally wasn't taking any rubbish from the keyboard warriors.

Drag them, Dejan!
