UFC president Dana White has already admitted that he is lining up Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson for a SIXTH time.

No, seriously, he's considering it once again.

Although he's looking at getting it organised, he has admitted that he is “scared” the bout could fall through for the sixth time since 2015.

There is still no official date for the fight, as the April 2020 scheduled date, the fifth try at having the fight take place, was called off due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The prospect of this actual fight is not yet ruled out despite Ferguson’s loss to Justin Gaethje back in May. Khabib is set to fight the latter for the lightweight title on October 24 at UFC 254.

White said that after Khabib’s fight with Gaethje, the Ferguson fight can begin to get sorted, yet he still remained coy with regards to assuring the fight would happen.

White told Sports Illustrated, as per The Sun: “If Khabib does beat Gaethje, you get Tony Ferguson another fight [against a different opponent], which we’re working on right now.

"And hopefully that fight with Khabib [and Ferguson] happens because I know people want to see it.

"I don’t think I’ve ever seen a fight fall apart as many times as those two.

"It almost scares me to make the fight again. What’s going to happen? An asteroid comes to earth? That’s the level of bad this thing is."

In 2015, the initial scheduled fight date, Khabib pulled out due to a rib injury.

A year later, Ferguson withdrew because of lung issues.

More health issues caused another delay in 2017, with Khabib withdrawing as a result of a kidney issue.

The fourth time of asking saw Ferguson trip over a cable and suffer a torn knee ligament.

The expectation that this fight will one day take place continues to get lower, as it seems the best fans can do is remain somewhat optimistic during this period of continued uncertainty.
