Sergio Romero is still a Manchester United player and it seems to make no sense at all.
Everything that could have gone wrong for United in the summer transfer window seems to have gone wrong and that can be said of both their purchases as well as their departures.
Sure, the acquisitions of Alex Telles and Donny van be Deek, which will likely be followed up by Edinson Cavani, may paper over the cracks but don't let it take away from the concerns.

That's because the behaviour of Ed Woodward and the United board has been indicative of a rudderless approach to the summer spending and one that leaves their squad in a mess.
It's bonkers to think that players like Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones, considering their lack of openings in the team, haven't even come close to leaving Old Trafford since the end of last season.
But I think we can all agree that Romero is the strangest situation of all with United's new plan to rotate David de Gea and Dean Henderson seemingly freezing him out of the squad.

Consequently, everyone was expecting Romero to be shipped out this summer with everyone from Aston Villa to Everton linked with arguably the world's best back-up goalkeeper.
But here we are on Deadline Day with Romero still plying his trade in Manchester and it's clear that tempers have finally flared with the Argentine's wife expressing her frustration on Instagram.
Eliana Guercio posted her discontent with United's handling of the situation by highlighting Romero's role in cup runs, before ending her speech by demanding: 'RESPECT FOR ONCE!!!"

First things first, like it or not, family members or partners kicking off on social media never really achieves anything and United are unlikely to be batting an eyelid about this development.
But you really have got to feel for Romero right now.
It's one of those transfers that just seemed so inevitable that every day that passed without it actually going through, I just thought: 'ah, well, it's such a no-brainer it will happen soon.'
But no, Romero could genuinely be forced to stick around at Old Trafford for at least two more months despite not having a clear opportunity to play a single minute of first-team action.
It's a crazy situation when you consider Romero is reported to pocket £70,000-a-week, so it's within their best interest to show him the door as soon as possible. ASAP, however, clearly isn't now.
