Everton are top of the Premier League.Yes, you heard that right. The Toffees are the early pace-setters in the top flight after a stunning run of form in the early stages of the season. What's most surprising is that it's been no fluke. While plenty of credit must go to Everton's existing players such - most notably Dominic Calvert-Lewin - there's no doubt that the club's summer transfer business has been key.Carlo Ancelotti has overseen a spending spree of just over £65million - an amount which is relatively modest by current top flight standards. But the calibre of player that has been brought in is outstanding.Deals for Niels Nkounkou, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Allan and Ben Godfrey have showed real ambition going into the new season. However the addition of James Rodriguez on a free transfer was an absolute game-changer.A player once seen as one of the best in the world, the Colombian looks to have found his former fire and now looks like a dead-cert to be the Premier League's signing of the season.p1ejt62ur8e0c4s17fl1j8u1i8l9.jpgBut it seems that Everton aren't finished yet.One position that they're still keen to strengthen is between the sticks, with Jordan Pickford dividing opinion among supporters.A series of high profile errors has cast doubt over his ability to be the club's number one, leading to speculation that Ancelotti could look for a replacement.According to The Athletic, one player who could be of interest is Robin Olsen. The Roma goalkeeper is said to be in advanced talks over a move to Goodison Park after being made available by the Italian side.Whether a deal can be struck before the transfer deadline, however, remains to be seen.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

What an interesting move this would be.

A towering goalkeeper, the Sweden international could be a very shrewd signing for Everton.

Jordan Pickford is a goalkeeper who has plenty of excellent attributes, but his performances have certainly dropped.

That could be a problem for the Toffees this term.

It's highly unlikely that Carlo Ancelotti's side will be able to sustain their current form over the course of the full season, but signing a new goalkeeper could help them.

A solid, reliable choice between the sticks could be key and Robin Olsen could be the man to do that job.

Whether the deal can be agreed, however, remains to be seen.
