Football fans are calling on the government to allow the safe return of supporters to stadiums, by creating a petition to asking them to reconsider current rules.

No spectators have been allowed into any Premier League or Football League ground since March when the professional game was suspended amid the coronavirus outbreak.

But, football has now returned and fans are desperate to get back into stadiums, especially as other countries are now allowing limited crowds.

In the UK, the public have been allowed to return to places like pubs and cinemas, so fans are upset about the fact it seems a return to football grounds is a long way off.

Given that many lower league clubs rely heavily on matchday revenue, there's a worry that keeping supporters away for much longer will have a disastrous effect.

Therefore, a petition has been created that urges the government to reconsider their guidelines and it's quickly going viral, having already amassed over 13,500 signatures at the time of writing.
