Manchester United are still picking up the pieces following their embarrassing 6-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

It was a result that brought to the surface so many issues right now at Old Trafford.

From the performances in defence to the fact that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side managed just five shots to Spurs’ 22, describing it as a shambles would be an understatement.

"It's very embarrassing, it hurt all the players. It hurts me as the manager. It's my worst day ever,” Solskjaer reflected at full-time, per BBC Sport.

The Norwegian promised that United will do “everything we can” to turn things around, with defeat leaving them 16th in the Premier League table.

But there’s an awful lot of work to be done at the club.

The manner in which Jose Mourinho’s side carved United apart on Sunday highlighted their deficiencies in defence, with captain Harry Maguire failing to cover himself in glory.

Maguire was given a score of just 1.85 on BBC Sport’s player rating, the worst out of all 14 players to appear for the Red Devils.

Coming in just ahead of Maguire was Luke Shaw, who received a miserable score of 1.96.

Shaw’s place in the side is in jeopardy now following the arrival of Alex Telles from Porto and one moment in Sunday’s match proved that the former Southampton left-back can’t be trusted at the back.

Son Heung-min made it 4-1 for Tottenham in the 37th minute when he capitalised on some abject defending from United.

And a new video of the goal has emerged that doesn’t paint Shaw in good light.

In the clip, we hear David de Gea shouting loudly at Shaw as the left-back completely ignores Tottenham’s threat at the front post to close down Harry Kane, who is standing on the edge of the box.

“No, Luke! No, Luke! No, Luke! No!,” De Gea can be heard shouting.

Shaw didn’t listen to his goalkeeper and by vacating the space just in front of goal, Son was given a simple finish.

It's hard not to feel for Solskjaer, isn't it? Shaw's decision to vacate the space just in front of De Gea was mind-numbingly painful, and further proof of why Telles is needed at Old Trafford.
