Tottenham Hotspur have had a fantastic transfer window.

After failing to qualify for the Champions League it seemed that the club could struggle to compete for the top quality players that might be available in the market.

Thankfully for supporters it seems that they had little to worry about.

Spurs were able to complete an impressive six major signings before the international transfer window closed on Monday evening.

They included deals for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Joe Hart, Matt Doherty, Sergio Reguilon, Gareth Bale and Carlos Vinicius who arrived at the club from Benfica.

Those signings were huge steps forward for Jose Mourinho who was determined to strengthen his ranks with a view to pushing for the top four this season.

The only target position that wasn't strengthened was in central defence, however according to Alan Hutton Tottenham will still be happy with how things went.

Speaking to Football Insider, Hutton said: "I think they’ve had a fantastic window, that was probably the icing on the cake, to bring in another centre-half.

“I think the ones they were looking add would have been very good to come in and really strengthen them and kick them on even further. They’ve had a fantastic start and they only want to add to that.

“They’re still looking at the boy from Swansea (Joe Rodon) I’m sure they were saying and from all accounts he’s a decent player, so that’s still an option.

“Probably a little bit annoyed he couldn’t get a couple of their transfer targets over the line but still a very good transfer window.”

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

There's no doubt that Jose Mourinho will be thrilled with the work done so far this summer.

For Spurs to sign six top quality by the end of the international transfer window is a huge achievement by the recruitment team in north London.

But they're certainly not finished.

There's no doubt that Tottenham still need a central defender and that's something that will have to be a priority before the domestic window closes.

Mourinho's side have got off to a good start to the Premier League season, but they'll certainly be hoping to solidify a little bit.

If they can get one more signing over the line then it will certainly have been a 10 out of 10 window for the Lilywhites.
