Rangers FC are hoping for a memorable season.

It's been far too long since the Blue half of Glasgow have been seen as a dominant force in Scottish football, but the feeling is that this could be their year.

Celtic have dominated the game in Scotland in recent years having won the Premiership title for nine seasons running.

Victory in the league this term would see them secure a landmark 10-in-a-row - a record which would cap off a full decade of dominance.

That's the last thing that Rangers want to see.

Steven Gerrard is working tirelessly to build a side that is capable of finally ending Celtic's dominance, with more excellent signings coming in this summer.

Deals for players including Cedric Itten, Ianis Hagi, Kemar Roofe, Jon McLaughlin and Bongani Zungu are among the signings made so far this summer, but reports have claimed that the best could be saved for last.

The Daily Record have claimed that Rangers could be plotting an audacious move to sign Jack Wilshere.

The 28-year-old is available on a free transfer after having his contract with West Ham United terminated by mutual consent.

An Arsenal favourite, Wilshere is keen to reignite his career after a difficult few years which have been riddled with injury problems.

But after fighting his way back to fitness, there's no doubt that he could be an asset.

Wilshere was an international teammate of Gerrard during their time playing together with England.

Described by Arsene Wenger as 'outstanding', Wilshere certainly has the quality to be a success and perhaps a move to Rangers is just what's needed to get the best from him.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This would be a major coup if Rangers could pull off a deal.

Jack Wilshere is arguably the most talented player that the Premier League has produced in the last 10-15 years.

It's just a shame that injuries have hampered his ability to really show his full potential.

Make no mistake, Wilshere has certainly showed glimpses of what he can do and so it's not a case of being a player who has lost his motivation.

On the contrary, the 28-year-old sounds incredibly determined to show what he can do again.

Playing for a side like Rangers could be perfect for him as he looks to use his movement and technical passing ability to carve open defences.

Steven Gerrard would love to have a player like him in his ranks, and who knows, now that he's available on a free transfer it could potentially be a viable move.
