Real Madrid are the latest side to join the race to sign Ashley Young, reports the Daily Mail.

The Aston Villa winger is ready to walk out of Villa Park this summer after refusing to discuss terms on a new deal.

And Madrid are the latest side to show interest in the England international, following rumours of a move to Liverpool and Manchester United.

United were favourites to land the 25-year-old after the Daily Mail reported that teammates had been told that Young had his heart set on a move to Old Trafford, despite Liverpool also being keen.

Liverpool have put a winger at the top of their transfer wish list this summer, to help supply £35 million striker Andy Carroll, while United, who could be braced to lose Nani this summer, are keen to snare the England winger away as a possible replacement for Ryan Giggs.

Manchester City, who are set to beat Liverpool to a Champions League spot this season, are also monitoring the situation.

At the height of Young's best form under former manager Martin O'Neil, it was claimed Young could have made the move to Madrid and the Spanish side's alternative to Barcelona's Lionel Messi.
