Leeds United are gearing up for a big season.

After winning the Championship by 10 clear points last term Marcelo Bielsa's side were always going to be brimming with confidence going into the new season.

But even we didn't expect them to hit the ground running like this.

Two wins from their opening four games has seen them move into the top half of the table, with just one defeat against reigning champions Liverpool to their name.

After scoring nine goals in that time, you can see where the Whites are hoping to pick up points.

As well as signing Robin Koch and Diego Llorente, Leeds completed deals to sign Spanish striker Rodrigo from Valencia and Raphinha from French side Rennes.

Those players have been brought in to add further firepower to Bielsa's attacking line which already looks pretty lethal.

But the Whites had hoped to bring one more in.

Reports over the summer regularly linked Leeds with a move for Ryan Kent.

It was claimed that the Yorkshire side even had a bid rejected for the Rangers star as they looked to get a deal wrapped up.

While Leeds pushed to get a deal done they ultimately decided that they would live to fight another day as they looked to get him to Elland Road.

Unfortunately that may now be off the table.

Reports from Football Insider have claimed that Rangers are planning to offer Kent a new contract to stay at Ibrox.

With the winger holding a £20million release clause, any new deal would make it significantly harder for Leeds to strike a deal for the player.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This could be a real blow for Leeds United.

While the Whites ultimately decided that a move for Ryan Kent wasn't to be this summer, it was no secret that they were interested in a move.

After all you don't make an eight-figure offer for someone that you don't rate.

Described by Scott Arfield as 'frightening', Kent was keen to stay at Rangers, however the English side will have been determined to get a deal done and would have been confident in their ability to strike a deal next summer - especially with a release clause in his contract.

However that could be about to change.

A new contract will mean that Rangers have much more control over the player's future and won't be forced into selling when they don't want to.

Whether this will stop Leeds coming back in for him, only time will tell.
