On this day five years ago, Liverpool announced they had made one of the best decisions in the club’s history - hiring Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool needed saving. It had been three-and-a-half years since their last trophy - a League Cup in which they needed a penalty shootout over Championship side Cardiff in the final.

In the five years since his very first press conference where he asked fans to turn from ‘doubters to believers,’ he has transformed the entire football clubs and its fans.

Kopites went from doubting they would even qualify for a top-four place every season to believing they are the best side in world football.

Klopp’s first seven months were one of progress but ultimately disappointment as the Reds lost in both the League Cup and Europa League finals.

In his first full season, he led Liverpool back to Champions League football with a fourth-placed finish. The following campaign, Liverpool stood still in terms of their final league position but they surprised everyone by reaching the Champions League final.

Okay, it ended in a devastating defeat to Real Madrid but, as Klopp sang in the early hours of the following morning, Liverpool would “keep on being cool, we'll bring it back to Liverpool.”

Could they possibly bounce back from that disappointment? Little did everyone know that it was just the start.

‘Bring it back’ they did just 12 months later, while they also narrowly missed out on the Premier League title, despite picking up 97 points.

Despite European success, Liverpool had to pick themselves up following their Premier League disappointment at losing just once and being pipped to their first ever title.

They surely couldn’t repeat a campaign like that.

They bettered it. Picking up 99 points and romping to the title in some style. Klopp had done it. He’d finally delivered a title after a 30-year wait.

They also got their hands on the Super Cup and World Club Cup.

And to celebrate his five years at the club, one Twitter user have created a compilation of his best moments on the touchline.

The talented @CF_Comps has compiled two minutes of Klopp to the soundtrack 'Hall of Fame.'

It really is a brilliant watch. Check it out:

On his fifth-year anniversary, Klopp reminisced about the moment he got the call from Liverpool about the possibility of becoming their new manager.

“I cannot forget the moment when I got the call from my agent that Liverpool is interested. And the feeling I had in that moment," Klopp told the club's official website.

“I said it a couple of times, I was completely in a holiday mood; we were in Portugal, in Lisbon, with the family, both boys were with us. Ulla and I were sitting in an outside coffee bar.

“Actually I didn’t take a lot of phone calls in that time, it was like: ‘Come on, don’t bother me.’ But then I saw it and it was like I had a feeling it could be something interesting. So I take the phone and he tells me, and I felt the excitement inside.

“But because of all the things I said before to my family, I couldn’t immediately say: ‘Yes! Let’s do it!’ I had to ask: ‘What’s your opinion?’ I still remember both boys were like: ‘Yes!’ We look at Ulla and she looked at all three of us: ‘Oh, it looks like the holiday is over!’

“It was just a really nice moment to have it together. There was nothing decided in that moment, it was not that I spoke to anybody else. We flew home, Mike Gordon called me then two days later, one day later, whatever. Then I flew over to New York and all that stuff.

“But this very first moment when I got aware of the interest of Liverpool was already pretty special. And from that moment on it got better and better.”

Here's to another five years of Klopp at Liverpool...
